Almondsbury 3 Wantage 1

Well what can i say. We just didn't get i sorted at the back again. I don't know how we do it. Almondsbury potted in what must have been under 2 minutes. From where i was stood it looked soft. And i thought to myself, Sean that was yours! Anyway from what i remember the 2nd goal was soft aswell & i was going to go,but stuck with it & went home dissapointed. Only a game i tell myself!! We had our chances, never took them & was sloppy at the back & paid the price. Result!

Full credit to Almondsbury, they stuck ridged at the back. There back 4 always holding there positions. There captain (i think Grant Monelle according to the programe) led by example & played a blinder.

Regards, Will

although u say we were sloppy at the back we still created far more chances than they did and if we had put half those chances away we would have won and yes ill hold my hand up to the third goal they they scored because i should have just put my foot through it i hope to see you next week and im sure we will put in a much better performance.is there any chance you can make yourself known to us so we can speak tp you from time to time. Hello Lee

Yes i do agree with what you say, & we did make chances. Come to think about it, i think we even scored 2 or 3 offside goals (& they were offside). It was the 1st goal within 2 minutes that set the game up. They got confident & we were left chasing the game. Had it not been for that 1st goal i have no doubt we would have gone on (i hope) to win. Well thats what i think, as we did put some heavy pressure on them. Like i said that goal was a gift. The 3rd goal (that you are taking the blame for) was almost inevitable i think. As we pushed up hard to get us back in the game (& rightly so) it left us light at the back & so they scored. Thats football hey. But well done to Almondsbury.

I'm nearly always at every game Lee, home & away unless i'm away on holiday or somthing. Drive the silver VW & normally stand 6 yards to the right of our dugout. ya can hardly miss me i'm about 3 stone overweight due to some serious Stella Artois abuse. Rarely come into the clubhouse after the game unless theres somthing major going on.

Saturday i think we are away at Hungerford. I'll be there. Best shot lads, give it your best shot.

See you there, Regards, Will

Hi Will,

Just wanted to voice my appreciation for you taking the bull by the horns and giving us our own Chatroom at last!! (well I suppose the GLS Hellenic Chat was kind of our forum too!) Fingers Crossed the chairman will give you the necessary permission to obtain the link from the Club website.

Must apologise for the woeful performance on Saturday, I wasn't at the races and unfortunately too many others were well below par too. It's getting a bit like after the 'Lord Mayors Show', everytime we put in a decent performance against one of the top teams in the league, we follow it up with an inadequate display against teams around or below us in the league. Can't put my finger on it really, we seem to revel in being the underdogs and counter attack very well against the leading teams but struggle to impose our own game on the rest of the league. Unfortunately, this could be the difference between mid-table mediocrity and a top six finish if we are not careful!

Anyway, must pick the chin up and concentrate on the derby next week at Hungerford, anything short of our best display will lead to more moans and groans on this site!

Here's hoping to plenty of banter on this site and I'll buy you a pint of Stella if you give me a shout in the bar (just to prove that not all Scots are tight!!)

Rgds, Stu Lamont.

Thanks Stu.

I think we needed our own chatroom, there was a couple of remarks over on the Hellenic site about how much Wantage used the site/it being Wantages site etc etc, so enough is enough & here we are.

I did mention to Tony Saturday about having our own chatroom, & he didnt seem over keen, but i think if the right people have a word in his ear & butter him up, i;e tell him what a fantastic chairman he is & how much we all love him etc etc etc (ok maybe drop the love), we'l get him to come round. (& i will have another word when i see him) & if he agrees i'll upgrade & get those annoying adds off the top!

Tony if your reading this, we would like you to get Simon to sort a link out

Yes i agree what you say about "The Lord Mayors Show" & it is very strange that our play is so up & down. I notice we have let in 46 goals this year already, compared to 43 all last season. ooch! On the other hand we scoring more to, 52 last season & we have already scored 43 so far this season, so should exceed last season by a long way. Not that any of that is really relevant, its all history. I think maybe (in my opinion) "part" of the problem is we miss Bambi. Anyway we move on. Stick at it, Saturday is another day & another game. Cheers,Stu.

Regards, Will

Nice to see you up and running though be warned you'll probably end up with muppets on here who want to wind up people and cause trouble. Ours started great and there was good banter but now the muppets have started, its the same on nearly all the local messageboards, people trying to stir up trouble which is probably why Tony is sceptical.

Still what is good is that I have printed off Stueys posting as written evidence that he is going to buy someone a drink!!! hahahha

All the best folks

Cheers, Steve

I'll keep an eye open for the Muppets & Numptys that pop from time to time. Like you say they try to stir for a fight/argument for the hell of it.

See you had a good result against Ardley tonight. I almost come over. There were so few game s on, then i noticed some of them were being postponed due to frost so i stayed in, not wanting a wasted trip.

Regards, Will

Yes the undersoil heating worked a treat!

A very good result against a team who had lost only once in their last 12 games
