The FTL Futbol Hellenic League.

Saturday, 7th March, 2009.

Premier League.

Milton breakaway and win.

Wantage Town F.C. 0 (0) Milton United F.C. 1 (0)

This poor quality game could have been summed up after 25 minutes, by which time an untidy Wantage had little to show other than a couple of Liam Illsley long range efforts, and at the other end, Milton’s left winger Warren McCabe had sliced wide with an open goal beckoning. The half continued with little cohesive football from either side, and neither goalkeeper threatened, although in the 38th minute, Craig Griffiths in the Milton goal did well to turn over a solitary effort from Wantage striker Danny Keen. The half finished with honours even and entertainment value at an all time low.

The second half produced more of the same, the significant event coming in the 65th minute when Milton substitute Matt Drake found himself alone in the Wantage half with only Wantage keeper Darryl Simms to beat. The young striker did well to finish with a low shot on the run that gave Simms little chance. Wantage were still unable to produce the form of which they are capable, the movement off of the ball going forward being so poor that players with the ball had so few options, and were time and time again caught dwelling on the ball.

The challenge continues for Manager Richie Bourne and his squad, as he seeks to keep Wantage out of the danger zone, preparing for the midweek away clash on Wednesday with lowly placed Harrow Hill.

Team. Darryl Simms, Tom Rowe, Liam Illsley, Andy Wallbridge, Gary Swann, Adam Learoyd,

Sam Belcher, Sean McKeon, Ellis Langford, Danny Keen, Gavin Jones.

Subs. Alex Lynch, Richie Bourne, Patrick Howe
